Arizona Christian Youth Camp

September 15th

The first septic system is in and the fence is complete. Thank you to all the folks who helped get this done; could not have been done without you. Depending on the weather we hope to get the well house in before winter.

August 8th, 2013
The fence is more than half-way completed thanks to help from a number of friends as well as the youth group from Grace Church in Show Low. We should be done by the end of the month.
We have also been able to get the well drilled and can now supply our own water. Soon the first septic system will be installed as well as the well house.
It is always interesting the way that God works. Due to the fence pole theft many folks in the Show Low area have become aware of our ministry and have stepped up to help. God is always good. Thank you for all the support.

We plan on replacing the missing  fence posts and repairing the fence; any help will be appreciated. A 6 foot  t-post costs ~$6 and we have to replace a bunch of them. We suspect the process  will take most of the summer. We are looking at faster methods than originally  used. Construction cannot continue until the fence is back up and the
property is secured. We will physically mark and paint each t-posts  distinctively to help discourage theft in the future. We will keep  everyone informed as the legal process moves  forward.
We do not know for certain what God's plan  is in all of this but we know it is for the good. We will be at the hearing on  may 30th. Pray that we can be a positive influence in Cody Hancock's life.

We met with the sheriff today and after sorting out hundreds of various t-post we were only able to retrieve 55 of the t-posts stolen in February. While it is unknown what the thief did with the rest, it is suspected that they were sold locally. We might get a few more back later as the sheriff department pursues the case.
The initial hearing for the individual arrested in the theft is May 30th. We know the process will not be quick but we are hoping and praying that we will get restitution for
the stolen posts and the labor involved with installation. Time will tell.
April 7th, 2013
Received word from the sheriff department that we could claim as many of our missing t-posts as we could positively identify. Unfortunately we bought most of the t-posts locally (like everybody else) so not sure how well this is going to go. We arranged to meet with the sheriff over the weekend of the 27th.

The fence is gone! Imagine our shock when one of our neighbors near the camp in Show Low called and told us  "the fence is gone." I couldn't believe my ears. All of it? I made plans to drive up ASAP, discover what was missing, and file a report with the sheriff. I arrived at the property to discover thieves had cut the wire off the main posts and then stole all of the t-posts, almost 500 of them, leaving the barbed wire laying on the ground. Two+ years of work gone. The sheriff met me at the property, gathered a lot of evidence, and set off to find the thief. Due to some evidence left behind the sheriff was able to track down the thief. He was arrested and charged with the theft of the t-posts (as well as numerous others). The status of our t-posts is yet to be determined; hopefully we will get them back.

The Septic system perc test and design are complete.
While the test was not optimum, the site is within standards for a typical
system and will not require any special design. The permitting paperwork is now
being submitted.

Good Leaven Ministries has changed the name for the camp in Show Low. We have been told by more than a few that "Respite and Retreat Center" doesn't say enough about what we do. "Arizona Christian Youth Camp" was selected. Please let us know your thoughts at
ewb@goodleavenministries.org.
